I began etching after receiving my Master's Degree in Painting at San Jose State University. I love the intimacy of etchings and how you can cram so much information into such a relatively small space. I taught myself with the aid of some books. Later, seeking more information, I joined the Fort Mason Printmakers at the invitation of my friend, Eleanor Rappe, who ably headed the group. With her help and the help of such great printmakers as Phyllis Taplitz, Robilee Fredericks and Theodora Jones, I learned multiple plate etching, which allowed me to use vital and vibrant color in my prints. I began selling my prints regularly and still am. These days most of my attention is devoted to chine collé etching, waterbase monotypes, and painting in acrylic and gouache. My work ranges from serious, biting and satirical, to soft and lovable humorous etchings of animals.
