Artist Statement
"In my painting I am exploring the concept of identity in our complex society. Through the juxtaposition of figures and symbols, I am expressing risk-taking, determination, and challenges as well as the contrast between moving and static forms. I am presently using torsos of the female figure with and without faces but with bands of color dividing space and superimposed over the torsos, sometimes confining them as as in borders. Also superimposed on and around the torsos are much smaller, rudimentary, transfer line drawings of figures involved in exercise movements which convey a repetitive narrative".
