Artist Statement

Hatred of one's own body image and /or thought processes is invisible, but comes out in many damaging ways. Self-hate contributes to the cycle of violence in which a person becomes a victim and thinks she deserves abuse. My hope for feminist evolution is that women around the world will help one another to develop positive self regard.

The Nurse and Her Cat - a girl brought up to ease the pain of others. This little girl will grow up to be a caregiver. The extent of her power will not be recorded.

Torturesmile is the smile of great pain. Someone is describing her abuse with a smile or laugh.
