Artist Statement
The Malleus was used for 300 years as a case-book for the detection and persecution of witches, specifying rules of evidence and procedures for the torture and persecution of suspected witches. The text reveals the astonishing level of denial operating within its (male) authors; witches were burned because they were both the carrier of the projection of desire and the object of desire. . .
