Looking for some honest, constructive feedback on your artwork?
Got a work-in-progress that could use some direction?
Want to level-up the way you talk about art?

Join professional guest reviewer Diane Olivier (NCWCA 2022 Art Star) and a group of your peers for NCWCA's very first quarterly Art Crit!

ART CRIT GROUP
Wednesday, April 26, 7pm

Unlike NCWCA's Art Share, in this new Art Crit group you're not the one talking about your work. Instead, you submit one artwork, 2-3 sentences (optional), and our guest reviewer and your fellow artists offer constructive criticism - neither judgment nor unsupported praise.

This quarter's focus is drawing and illustration (pencil, ink, charcoal, pastel, digital with a focus on mark-making, etc.) If you're an artist working in these mediums, sign up to be one of six artists reviewed.

And if you're not one of the artists being reviewed this time around, there's still so much that you can learn by attending and participating! Find out how the pros think and talk about art, practice your own critiquing skills, and perhaps gain some insight into your own work as well!

Please note:
  • Art Crit is for members of NCWCA in good standing. Not a member yet? Join us!
  • We review one work from each of 6 artists per meeting. If more than 6 artists sign up to participate, we'll have a lottery to choose names.
  • No need to sign up to attend Art Crit as a peer reviewer or observer - all members will receive the Zoom link before the meeting.
  • Deadline to sign up: Sunday, April 9.

This quarter, our professional guest reviewer is Diane Olivier, Artist & International Drawing Instructor.

Diane Olivier My continuing passion is hand to paper drawing. The physical touch, the give of the surface as it yields to mark making transports me. My current artwork travels in two veins: one plein air landscape, the other figurative. Both are records of personal interactions with the present. I explore the moments I experience suspended in a place beyond the everyday and relish the alchemy of transforming paper and dust into worlds beyond their limits. I engage with my models’ personalities and hope to depict them with their influence. My landscapes are visits to nature to remind myself we are but just a speck in the universe. I share with the viewer what keeps me whole and grounded.
