URGENT CALL FOR ART: NCWCA MEMBERS
HARMONY AND HUMANITY: PEACEFUL ART FOR A TROUBLED WORLD

The NCWCA Board invites you to create 4x6 inch postcard-sized artworks that reflect your perspective on achieving World Peace during this challenging global period. Our aims with this project are to unite our members during these difficult times, to encourage members to express their concerns about the current state of humanity, and to share solutions for preventing conflicts arising from diverse perspectives.
Your art can address topics that prioritize kindness and humanity over race, religious, sexual orientation, political, and cultural differences. We welcome broad interpretations of achieving World Peace for this project.
The board believes that through our collective art-making efforts, we can embody the essence of what NCWCA stands for. By amassing as many artworks as possible during this intense period, we can collectively lift our voices in the call for World Peace.

JANUARY 13, 2024 UNDERPINNING FOR YOUR PASTEL DRAWING
Workshop with Diane Olivier

Saturday, January 13, 1-4pm
1890 Bryant Street
To register, go to Jan 13, Pastel Drawing with Diane Olivier
Limited to 10 participants.
Members received through chaptermail, a code for the $90 discounted NCWCA rate. Contact Laura Abrams at laura[at]ncwca.org if you did not receive this code.
This workshop is for artists who have some experience in pastels but would like to explore more options. Diane will begin with a demonstration showing three ways to start a drawing with underpinning. Participants will then begin three pieces that will reflect different surfaces, different underpinning, different marks and then have time to flesh them out to see the comparisons. The session ends with a critique to review the results. Ahead of the workshop, Diane will provide several image galleries and handouts. Artists should bring their own pastel kit and three different kinds of paper, along with six photographs for subject matter.
Diane Olivier, draw-er extraordinaire, moves between sketchbooks and pastel work, figures to landscapes, traditional to non-traditional materials. A long time teacher, she now leads classes and travel drawing workshops where she shares her techniques, lends her support and hosts groups in fabulous locations.
