DJERASSI DAY SEPT 3, 2017

The Women's Caucus for Art (WCA) Day at Djerassi Resident Artists Program brought together a vibrant community of women artists to explore, make art, reflect and interact in a setting of great natural beauty.
In addition to artist panel and workshops, we had breakfast and lunch served from Djerassi's amazing organic kitchen and the unique opportunity to tour the land art created by years of Djerassi Residency Artists. Djerassi, in the hills above the Northern California peninsula, is closed to the public most of the year.
Djerassi Day 2017's theme was "Actionable Art and Artists" – focusing on art practices that take action, create change, communicate, heal, activate, educate, transform and make the planet a better place. In these uncertain times, many of us are asking what we can do as artists, individuals, and collaboratively. Djerassi Day 2017 provided an opportunity for WCA artists to connect, share, learn new skills, and plan with these thoughts in mind.

YEAR-END PARTY AT JUDY JOHNSON-WILLIAMS' STUDIO
The year-end party is an annual tradition. It's a time for us all to get together after the busy Holiday Season and before the year closes. The evening is filled with conversations, good food, laughter and art. Our traditions include burning bad juju to clear our hearts and minds of bad, sad, ugly things that happened during the year. We do a White Elephant exchange, which enables us to wrap unused art-making tools and materials in beautiful paper and share laughter over what's inside. Equally important is the making of art, sharing a communal table filled with art-making materials and through it, set our intentions for the coming year. All members and their guests are welcome to this event.
