 DE YOUNG JUDY CHICAGO SELF-GUIDED TOUR &  ​CONVERSATIONS WITH FEMINIST ARTISTS ​ KAREN LECOCQ, NANCY YOUDELMAN AND MARGUERITE ELLIOT


On November 11, NCWCA members and guests made a special group visit to the “Judy Chicago: A Retrospective" exhibition at the de Young Museum. Attendees toured the exhibition and met at the de Young Cafe for a lunchtime discussion moderated by Linda Joy Kattwinkel and guest artists Karen LeCocq and Nancy Youdelman, participants in the iconic 1972 WOMANHOUSE exhibition; and Marguerite Elliot who was part of the historic Woman's Building collective in Los Angeles. 

DURBA SEN WINS THE NATIONAL WCA TEE SHIRT DESIGN COMPETITION

NCWCA CONGRATS TO WCA 50TH ANNIVERSARY

Congratulations to our Board Member, Durba Sen for winning the WCA nation-wide teeshirt design competition! Her original painting, Unapologetically Resilient, was exhibited at NCWCA's Composing the Future exhibition in May.  
The funds raised from the sales of the t-shirts will go toward supporting WCA’s mission to create community through art, education, and social activism. 30% of the proceeds from the t-shirts will go directly to Durba.

CARRYING STONES TOUR

On Sunday September 12th, the South Bay pod visited the New Museum Los Gatos (NUMU). where NCWCA President Sawyer Rose has a solo exhibition titled "Carrying Stones." She gave a curatorial tour and the attendees enjoyed an outdoors lunch on the grounds of the museum.  Here is a link to Sawyer's exhibition, "Carrying Stones":

REMEMBRANCE LANTERN WORKSHOP  

Remembrance Lantern Workshop by Na Omi Judy Shintani, August 15, 2021
Third Generation Japanese American artist Na Omi Judy Shintani led this lantern-making workshop focused on celebration and remembrance of loved ones. The afternoon began with a slideshow of cultures that use light and lanterns, a writing exercise with prompting questions about how one might honor the dead, a sharing of lanterns made in previous workshops, then participants will make their own lanterns. Afterwards, participants had an opportunity to share what was made and their special memories about their loved ones.
