NCWCA IN 2020

NCWCA HOLIDAY PARTY

We had a wonderful Holiday Party via Zoom on December 20, 2020. Through the combined efforts of Board Members Jennifer Jigour, Elizabeth Addison, Priscilla Otani, Angela Han and Chapter Member Tanya Momi we offered a rich selection of events that members could attend at their leisure. The schedule of events included a Guided Meditation, NCWCA Table Setting Project (inspired by Judy Chicago), Premiere of the "Environmentally Sound" video, Holiday Unboxing Gift Exchange, and Promise Hands art-making workshop.

A VERY SPECIAL SHELTER-IN-PLACE LAND ART DAY

NCWCA members made land art while sheltering in place and shared our creations and inspirations via Zoom on August 23, 2020. For more, go to Land Art.

THE GROUND UPON WHICH WE STAND EXHIBITION

Picture
The NCWCA exhibition team lead by Exhibition Chair Elizabeth Addison mounted a successful online exhibition, "The Ground Upon Which We Stand." The exhibition ran from April 13 - May 31, 2020 at the Abrams Claghorn Gallery in Albany, California. The exhibition included an online gallery, print catalog, and an accompanying video event, "Environmentally Sound." This exhibition is documented in detail on the subpages of our 2020 Events page.

NCWCA ON THE COLLEGE ART ASSOCIATION PANEL

NCWCA presented "Amplifying Inclusion: Intersectional Feminism in Contemporary Curatorial Practice" at the College Art Association Conference on February 13, 2020. The panelists included Tanya Augsburg (NCWCA), Maria Elena Buszek (University of Colorado, Denver) Karen Gutfreund (NCWCA), Rosemary Meza DesPlas (New Mexico artist), Priscilla Otani (NCWCA), and Sawyer Rose (NCWCA). This panel was based on the curators', artists' and writers' experiences in producing the exhibition, "F213" in 2019. Read a summary of the presentations on WCA publication, ArtLines.
