BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Outreach Chair, Technology Chair, Art Historian in Residence, Board Director
OUTREACH CHAIR
Job Summary
The Outreach Chair is responsible for establishing relationships with museums, galleries, arts organizations, art fairs, higher education institutions and event venues on behalf of NCWCA.
Term
Two years from July 1 to June 30 elected by the Board of Directors and NCWCA chapter members present at the June election meeting, and not to exceed three consecutive terms. In the case of an unexpected vacancy or otherwise incapacity of the elected Outreach Chair, The Board of Directors may appoint an interim Outreach Chair or divide the responsibilities among the remaining Board of Director members until the next regular nomination period and June election.

Duties
1. Builds relationships with museums and galleries exhibiting works that align with NCWCA’s mission by attending their exhibitions and inviting museum and gallery professionals to NCWCA exhibitions.
2. Establishes and maintains working relationships with museum professionals in order to promote ways NCWCA artists’ works might be included in Bay Area museum exhibitions related to feminist or other activist art themes.
3. Works with Board to identify museum or gallery professionals for exhibition jurors or curators, Bay Area Art Star, art crit, or guest speakers.
4. Works with Board to research venues for NCWCA events including but not limited to conferences, Bay Area Art Stars, exhibitions, and celebrations.
5. Works with the Professional Development Chair to organize curatorial tours of Museum or Gallery exhibitions for NCWCA members.
6. Seeks collaborative opportunities such as exhibitions, panel discussions, and field trips with local arts organizations.
7. Establishes relationships with Art Fair organizers and seeks nonprofit donated exhibition space at Art Fairs.
8. Establishes relationships with Open Studio organizers and shares open studio space availability with NCWCA artists.
9. Researches Bay Area grant opportunities that benefit NCWCA’s mission.
10. Prepares and distributes a monthly report of work completed and work on-going and summarizes report at monthly board meeting.

1. Familiarity with Bay Area museums and galleries.
2. Strong networking skills.
3. Strong oral and written communication skills.
4. Ability to identify, evaluate, and develop opportunities and to communicate these effectively.
5. Ability to evaluate and negotiate contracts and pricing.
6. Established relationships with the Bay Area arts community and institutions.
7. Word and Excel skills.
8. WIllingness to establish working relationships with all regions covered by NCWCA membership and to extend outreach to other chapters in the WCA Northwest/Pacific Region.

The Operations Chair is responsible for supporting the operations needs of the organization.

Duties
- Reviews policies and procedures of the organization maintained by board directors to ensure they are current.
- Inventories all technological tools used by the organization to conduct its business: hardware, software, apps, administrative sites, databases, and e-tools.
- Administers the relational database, Airtable, and train members on usage. The Director will receive Airtable training.
- Periodically, researches and recommends changes, upgrades or purchase of administrative, communication or other technological tools.
- Participates in periodic evaluation of vendors.
- Oversees access, logins and passwords for all technological tools used by NCWCA.
- Oversees committee members that provide technological support for video conferencing, video editing or e-catalogs.
- Oversees committee members that provide operational support for NCWCA events and conferences.
- Prepares and distributes a monthly report of work completed and work on-going and summarizes report at monthly board meeting.
- Strong organizational skills
- Experience in writing, editing and maintaining operations manuals
- Basic knowledge of, and ability to manage AirTable, a relational database (will be trained to use)
- Experience in managing confidential information
- Ability to evaluate effectiveness of external vendors and technology.
- Enjoys training people on new processes and technology.
- Word and Excel skills.
- Video editing and e-catalog design experience.
ART HISTORIAN IN RESIDENCE
Job Summary: On behalf of NCWCA, the Art Historian in Residence documents historical and trend-setting women’s art by publishing essays and critiques in publications such as exhibition catalogs, textbooks, educational journals and magazines and provides critical analyses of art activist endeavors undertaken by the organization.
Term: Two years from July 1 to June 30 elected by the Board of Directors at the June Board meeting. The Art Historian in Residence shall not serve more than three consecutive terms.
Reports to: The President and the NCWCA Board
Works with: Designated Committees
Duties:
1. Periodically serves as juror or curator for a chapter-sponsored exhibition.
2. Writes a catalog essay for exhibitions juried or curated on behalf of NCWCA.
3. Provides commentary or curatorial tour of one or more chapter exhibitions.
4. Applies to appear on educational conference panels such as CAA or other arts organizations.
5. Applies to curatorial calls for art on behalf of NCWCA.
6. Participates as a moderator, panelist or discussant in NCWCA-sponsored or external events.
7. Establishes and maintains professional relationships with colleges and universities in shared areas of interest.
8. Seeks collaborative opportunities such as exhibitions, panel discussions, guest speaker participation with Northern California colleges and universities.
9. Periodically presents feminist art critique and art historical education through presentations, guest speakers, book club selections, notification of upcoming gallery events, seminars, workshops or other educational events.
Skills and Abilities
● Established art history scholarship in fields of study related to feminist art, contemporary art, activist art and other topics related to the mission of NCWCA.
● Excellent research and writing skills.
● Professional connections to academia, museums, and galleries.
● Experience as a panelist, moderator, discussant.
● Connections with established professionals in the arts, including but not limited to professional artists, published arts writers, university publishers, art critics, gallerists and museum professionals.

Summary: The Board Director position is an at-large position that helps enhance and further the objectives of the board.
Term: Two years from July 1 to June 30 elected by the Board of Directors and NCWCA chapter members present at the June election meeting, and not to exceed three consecutive terms. In the case of an unexpected vacancy or otherwise incapacity of the elected Technology Chair, The Board of Directors may appoint an interim Technology Chair or divide the responsibilities among the remaining Board of Director members until the next regular nomination period and June election.

Duties:
Must be an active member of at least two committees or assume a committee chair position
