"I DO BELIEVE" 2022 INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY COLLABORATION WITH NCWCA & SCWCA

Picture
This year NCWCA is collaborating with SCWCA, its sister chapter in Southern California on a postcard show called I Do Believe. The topic is abortion rights and access, which will be argued in the Supreme Court this year.  Viewpoints on all sides of the abortion issue are solicited for this exhibition. Works submitted by the deadline will be exhibited twice. First, SCWCA will host a virtual exhibition of  I Do Believe in March for International Women's Day.  NOTE: The deadline for this collaborative exhibition has been extended to March 25. This exhibition is limited to 2022 SCWCA and NCWCA members. To apply and submit your jpg go to:   https://www.entrythingy.com/d=scwca.org#dashboard. Be sure to mail your physical postcards to  I Do Believe, c/o P. Otani, PO Box 31083, San Francisco, CA 94131. Your physical postcards will be exhibited in a second exhibition at the Vargas Gallery, Mission College, Santa Clara, in September.

I Do Believe is a multi-part exhibition created by Priscilla Otani. Anyone (artists and non-artists) may submit physical postcards to Priscilla directly, without submitting to the SCWCA virtual exhibition.  The mailing address is I Do Believe, c/o P. Otani, PO Box 31083, San Francisco, CA 94131 and the deadline for receipt of cards is June 30. All cards received by that date will be exhibited at the Vargas Gallery, Mission College, Santa Clara.  For details, go to   https://littlemailbox.blogspot.com/2022/01/call-for-art-i-do-believe-postcard-show.html

APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN | DEADLINE DECEMBER 16, 2021

MENTEE APPLICATION
Mentors and mentees will complete a comprehensive questionnaire to identify areas of expertise and interest. Mentees will then be matched to best-fit mentors.
  • Mentorship pairings will last 6 months, from January to June 2022. Mentorship pairs will meet in person or virtually via Zoom, FaceTime, or similar at least once every month and communicate via email or phone in between. There will also be a number of group meetings so everyone in the Mentorship Program can get to know each other and exchange ideas.
  • Mentor eligibility: You must be a current member of the Northern California Women’s Caucus for Art to apply as a mentor. You do not need to live in the Bay Area to be eligible.
  • Mentee eligibility: You do not need to be a member of the Northern California Women’s Caucus for Art to apply as a mentee. • Applicants will be notified of the status of their application in late December.

Committee Member Opportunities

Picture
NCWCA wouldn’t exist without the energetic support of volunteers and interns. They help at events, assist in committees, and work closely with Board members. In exchange for their time, they get behind-the-scenes experience in a non-profit arts organization. Volunteers and interns have the opportunity to work in these areas:

Program development: Work with Board members to develop new audiences and programs for workshops, events, conferences and  exhibits.

Installation and documentation:Assist with preparing exhibitions, installing and de-installing artwork, and hosting opening receptions.

Documentation: Assist with the documentation of visual art exhibitions and events. Research NCWCA’s historical archives and document milestones and key events for the website.

Event Planning / Staffing:
Organize and staff events, including exhibitions, conferences, workshops, and fundraisers. Assist with front-of-house for live events and exhibits (ushering, bartending, set-up,  clean-up). Schedule venues, solicit in-kind donations, prepare itineraries, and coordinate volunteers and artists.

E-News
Write articles for News & Notes, NCWCA's monthly e-news publication.

Marketing / Communications: Market and publicize programs and events, assist in website development and
maintenance. Write press releases, make calls to local media, distribute announcements, and design graphics for collateral and website.

Membership Drive/Fundraising: Assist with membership campaigns, grant applications and fundraisers. Research new sources of funding and potential donors and recent developments in the arts and fundraising. Maintain donor/member database and e-mail distribution lists.

Website: Maintain website and Google Calendar.

Writing / Editing: Good writers are always needed to interview artists, write and/or edit website
and newsletter articles, website copy, and press releases.

Finance: Develop and track project or exhibition budgets, interface with the Treasurer to ensure funds are accounted for correctly, manage
volunteers.
