UNVARNISHED REVELATIONS: BRAINSTORMING ACTIVITY FOR F*CK U! IN THE MOST LOVING WAY

Here is a simple exercise developed by Tanya Augsburg to help you think about the core themes of the upcoming show, F*ck U! In the Most Loving Way. If you are stuck with what to create, try this exercise for inspiration.

1. Identify an instance when a man or someone representing the patriarchy did something to you in an attempt to adversely affect your life; and  to which you responded in some way.

2. Briefly write down a description of that incident. Describe the action that occurred to you. If someone said something to you using injurious speech, write down what was said. Try to quote exactly.

3. In a paragraph write down your response and the outcome from your response (hopefully a positive or self-affirming one). If you said something, try to write down exactly what you said.

4. Now condense your response to one sentence.

5. Now condense your response to as few words as possible.

6. Draw a simple image that represents your response (the core of your response). This becomes the seed of what you might create for this show.
