SOMArts Grant Writing Committee

Picture
NCWCA will be applying for the 2015-16 SOMArts Commons Curatorial Residency Program for an exhibition on women & money. SOMArts requires the exhibit to be curated and be relevant to the San Francisco Bay Area communities.  Tanya Augsburg, Karen Gufreund, Kelly Hammargren and Priscilla Otani will be conceiving the exhibition and writing the grant proposal. If accepted, they will lead a larger committee to implement and manage the exhibition.  In 2011, national WCA won the curatorial residency for "Man As Object: Reversing the Gaze." To get involved , flll out the Committee Sign Up form below.

Young Women's Curatorial Grant Committee

Kelly Hammargren, Judy Johnson-Williams, Priscilla Otani and Sandra Yagi have formed a committee to mentor the Berkeley Young Women's Art Collective, which has been selected to receive the 2014 Curatorial Grant. They welcome more committee members to help with preparation for their exhibition in November, helping to create a catalog, hang works in the gallery, manage the opening reception and other activities, and take down the exhibition.

Benefits Activities Committee

NCWCA is looking to team up with other Bay Area non-profits to support their events or projects. In 2013, NCWCA members worked with Wings Learning Center to help them raise funds for children with autism. We also participated in Art Break Day with Oakland residents and had a table at the Women's Building's annual Celebration of
Craftswomen. Join the committee to evaluate what good works NCWCA should engage in this year.  To get involved, fill out the Committee Sign Up form below.

All of our board positions are filled at this time. Please check out opportunities to participate in one of our committees.

Suggest An Activity!

Fill out this form if you want to propose an activity or talk for the monthly board meeting. We have 4-5 activities a year, following the board meetings on the second Tuesday of the month. Typically, the activities are 30-45 minutes long. There is a $40 stipend for NCWCA member speakers or instructors. NCWCA board members can propose an activity but are not eligible for the stipend. Proposals must be submitted at least 30 days before your intended activity date.
If you have a non-board meeting activity, please state that in your activity description. Professional Development Chair Judy Shintani will respond to all of your suggestions.

    1. Describe Activity 2. Tell us equipment, room and material needs. 3. Proposed dates for the activity
